On the first day of Christmas, ObjectRocket gave to me… GCP for my DBaaS!

We’re pleased to announce that the ObjectRocket platform is now generally available on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Throughout this year, I’ve written a number of blogs about our new hosting platform as we launched new services and features, but one of the primary goals of this project has been a platform that we could drop into multiple clouds. Now, we prove that capability with the addition of GCP as a supported cloud provider.

What’s Available Today

Today, you can log into Mission Control and create instances in Google Cloud Platform. The following products and regions are currently supported:

  • PostgreSQL with full feature set, including managed backups and HA replicas
  • Elasticsearch with the full feature set, including managed backups
  • The GCP us-central1 region is currently the only version available

You can expect an equivalent experience between cloud providers on our platform, so the choice of which cloud to use is yours. Our goal has always been to move the database closer to your application, and now we can get even closer to GCP customers’ environments. Once again, Mission Control will always be up to date with our latest pricing and offerings for GCP, so log in and check it out.

What’s Next

Though some of our other database offerings (e.g. CockroachDB) are not yet available and only one region is offered, the hard work is already done. New products and regions are not far behind and we can quickly add a number of them as customers request them, so definitely contact us to let us know what you’re looking for.

So much of what we do at ObjectRocket is directly driven by our customer feedback, so I’d like to reiterate that we’re always listening and if there’s a feature, or product, or region that you don’t see listed, just ask. Nothing motivates us more than delivering on a customer request.

After all, it is the season of giving.  🎁 🎶🎁
